A NINE-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl has been praised for donating her hair to a cancer charity.

Daisy Stone, of Wath-upon-Dearne, had 19 inches of her hair cut off for the Little Princess Trust and has raised around £115 so far.

Daisy’s mum Laura Firth said the idea behind donating her daughter’s hair came a couple of years ago.

“We always said that if she wanted it cutting short then it would be nice to donate it to those who lose their hair,” said the 32-year-old.

“As soon as she decided she wanted her hair short she was very excited about donating it.”

The Our Lady and St Joseph’s school pupil had her hair cut on February 25 and also fund-raised for the charity as well.

“Now she’s had it cut she’s loving her new hair style and can’t wait for her hair to be posted,” said Laura.

“I am super proud of her for doing this.

“Her friends have been really supportive of her as they knew how much she loved her hair and we think she had the longest hair in the class.”

Daisy’s JustGiving page is still open for donations for the Little Princess Trust.
