BARNSLEY MP Dan Jarvis has called for the town’s health bosses to release a full account of their contract tendering process amid mounting complaints by patients at three ‘excellent’ surgeries.

The £10m contract for Lundwood Surgery and Grimethorpe and Shafton’s Highgate practices - which have all been run by the Hill Brow Partnership for the last five years - was awarded to the newly-formed Barnsley Healthcare Federation by the Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

However, complaints have been rising during recent weeks after Jim Logan, the federation’s chief executive, revealed that only locum GPs will be available for the three surgeries’ 6.500 patients to see when the 15-year contract comes into effect next Friday.
