THE daughter of Barnsley football legend Mark Jones, whose life was cut short in the 1958 Munich air disaster, feels her dad is a forgotten hero.

Lynn Hargreaves, who never got to meet her father as he was tragically killed four months before she was born, wants him to be honoured in the same fashion as fellow Busby Babe and Barnsley lad Tommy Taylor.

It comes after she learned of plans by a group of enthusiasts, the Tommy Taylor Trust, to raise £100,000 for a permanent reminder of Taylor in the town centre.

Lynn, 56, of Princess Street, Wombwell, said: "I know Tommy Taylor was a legend and came from Barnsley but my dad was a legend too and he came from Wombwell."

Keith Padden, from the Tommy Taylor Trust, said: "I am just as big an enthusiast for Jonesy as I am Tommy Taylor.

"If we are doing it for Tommy Taylor we might be able to get something done for Jonesy as well. That would be brilliant."
