Daniel Stendel has been inspired by watching the Daydream Believers film about Barnsley's promotion to the Premiership in 1997.
The head coach and his staff went to a screening for the DVD launch at The Civic on Friday which was also attended by many of the players and staff from that era.
Stendel, who is hoping for promotion from League One this season, said: “It was a very good film. My English is OK so I could understand 60 or 70 per cent of it.
"But my emotions when I saw the movie were great. We are not in the same situation now but maybe we can have similar success this season. It was inspirational to watch this film.”
