DEARNE indie rockers The Starkins landed themselves a ten-date tour last week after winning a battle of the bands competition.

The four piece, who hail from Wath, Bolton and Adwick, rocked out the Frog and Parrot pub in Sheffield last Thursday to earn a tour funded by Greene Kings brewery.

The Starkins saw off five other bands on the night and singer Andy Daniels, 21, believes the band are at their best now.

He said: "We are just trying to make each performance different and try and improve. We gave it our all and we won. We are hoping 2015 could be our year and we will probably cut down on the pub gigs a bit and just do the industry ones instead."
