A DEDICATED team created specifically to deal with anti social behaviour in the town centre - particularly Peel Square - will use ‘every tool and method’ in the book to tackle the problems, according to a new town centre constable.
PC Craig Sumpter said the ‘battle for Barnsley’ will start on Monday when regular patrols of the area will be carried out.
The team is made up of PC Sumpter, two other police officers and four council enforcement officers.
He said: “I want to declare the battle for Barnsley starts next week. I’m a Barnsley person born and bred. I live and work in the Barnsley area and have done for almost all of my service.”
