DEMOLITION is now fully underway at the former Grove Street school and the adjacent building once known as PADS.
Both buildings have been damaged by fire, most recently two weeks ago, and work to clear the site ready for a housing development has begun.
PADS (Performing Arts Development Service) was for many years home to groups including Barnsley Metropolitan Band, Barnsley Town Concert Band, Barnsley Youth Theatre and other junior bands, ensembles and dance groups.
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
