A BARNSLEY dentist has been given a 12-month community order for harassing his ex-wife.

Anthony Cale, of Gorse Bank Farm, Hepworth, ran A J Cale and Associates on Racecommon Road, near Barnsley town centre.

The 62-year-old denied harassing Janet Cale between September and October of last year, who he was married to for 17 years up until their divorce in April.

The dentist was found guilty following a trial at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court earlier this month - the second time in two years he has been convicted of harassing Mrs Cale.

He received a 12-month community order for the latest offence, which includes 40 hours of community service and 35 hours taking part in a rehabilitation project to prevent further offending.

He was also given a two-year restraining order to restrict him from contacting Mrs Cale.

She said: “Before, the harassment was more through text messages and phone calls, but this time it also included letters. We have a daughter together so he pays maintenance, but he used that to come to the door.

“It got to a stage where I thought enough was enough. I’m relieved it’s over and the restraining order will prevent him from contacting me.

“It has been a nightmare and what he has done to me forced me into seeking help from Pathways, a support centre in Barnsley, who have been fantastic.”
