LOCAL design and construction consultancy NPS Barnsley is a joint venture company, part-owned by Barnsley Council with whom they continue to work closely to support growth in the local economy, and maintain and create sustainable local jobs.

Formed in 2011, NPS Barnsley services include architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering design, quantity surveying, procurement, energy management, and compliance services such as asbestos, water hygiene and health and safety management. The company also has its own construction arm.

Barnsley Council is its main client and together they are delivering some wonderful projects, including the ‘Better Barnsley’ town centre regeneration project and the recently completed new build school at Goldthorpe. The company continues to broaden its client base however across both the public and private sectors.

The company remains committed to its Barnsley Apprentice Pledge, with apprentices making up ten per cent of its workforce. These Barnsley apprentices are trained by NPS to become the designers, engineers and craftsmen of the future. The company also supports local schools internship programmes and work placements to inspire young people to take up a career in construction. Through a recent economic impact report NPS Barnsley is also shown to be supporting 166 jobs in Barnsley through spend with local businesses and suppliers.
