A BIRDWELL man who has been waiting five years for a kidney transplant is getting desperate after his kidney function dropped to just eight per cent.

Alan Cutts, 67, of Falcon Drive, Birdwell, has seen his kidney function deteriorate since suffering from a streptococcus infection about 30 years ago.

He believes the law should be changed to an opt-out system, rather than the current scheme of people agreeing to donate their organs.
