THE owner of the former Royston High School site has revealed it is assessing a 'number' of potential development options.

Kier Property Developments, which is thought to have bought the patch of land off Midland Road for £7 million, had big ambitions for the site having got planning permission from Barnsley Council in February 2013.

Councillors on the planning board gave the thumbs up for a supermarket, petrol station and 143 houses but little has materialised other than Persimmon Homes' housing estate which is now 50 per cent complete according to the builder.

But now Kier has revealed they are looking into a number of possibilities to regenerate the remaining half, renewing hopes that a long-term solution could be near.
