The great and the good of the sporting world were at the sports personality of the year awards in Leeds last Sunday.
And although they were not winners this time around- Barnsley's Dickie Bird and Dorothy Hyman were there at the 60th annual awards show to enjoy the spectacle and to catch up with sporting friends and colleagues from over the years.
Dorothy, who won silver and bronze medals at the 1960 Rome Olympics and bronze in 1964 at Tokyo, was the winner of the sports personality of the year award in 1963. Dickie first went to the awards show in 1959 as a Yorkshire player when Yorkshire won the championship and was voted the team of the year.
Dickie says: "It has changed an awful lot in the past 54 years. It used to be quite a small audience in a BBC studio, but now they stage them in these huge arenas which makes for a much louder atmosphere and allows more people in the audience, which is great."
Dickie admits he put on his "posh voice" for the commentary he provided for a film that was shown during the show.
Dickie was driven to the Oval cricket ground to follow the script provided which was then skilfully blended with images from the past 12 months of cricket.
"They wanted it to sound measured and serious, so I decided to put on my posh voce- but I know everyone will still have recognised it and known it was me," he laughed.
