A DISTRAUGHT family has warned pet owners to be cautious in Shafton this week - after their beloved cat died as a result of anti-freeze poisoning.
The Harber family, of The Green View, labelled whoever was responsible for three-year-old Rita's death as a "murderer" having watched their pet succumb to kidney failure after a five-day battle on Friday afternoon.
The tabby cat had been missing for two days before returning home, where she displayed unusual signs including frothing at the mouth which prompted the Harbers to take her to Abbey Vets in Cudworth.

It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
