BROADBAND users in one Barnsley village are finally celebrating faster internet speeds - three years after a launching a campaign and raising £11,000 to get the improvements done.
People living on the Rose Hill and Water Royd estates in Dodworth have been campaigning for years for BT to install a street cabinet with fibre-optic cables but they were told it was not financially viable.
Resident Jon Clapham said: "When it became apparent we were going to have to pay ourselves, I nearly shut the campaign down. But I asked people if they would be willing to contribute and they did - it cost roughly £48 per house."
