A DOG was viciously attacked by two other dogs while out with her owner.

Janet Smith, 72, of Birkwood Avenue, Cudworth was out walking her cavipoo (a Cavalier spaniel crossed with a poodle), Charmer, who is ten years old, when they stopped to talk to a neighbour.

Charmer was sitting beside Janet on her lead when the two dogs, which Janet believes were staffy crosses, came out of a garden on Emsley Avenue and ran towards them both.

The larger of the two dogs grabbed Charmer’s chest and the other one started attacking both her front and back legs.

Janet said: “Neighbours were kicking and beating the dogs but they would not stop attacking my dog.”

After being taken to a vet for her injuries, Charmer has been left with multiple bites on her chest, a bruised left lung and bite marks on her front and back legs.

Janet said: “Charmer has been left very traumatised and feels like she daren’t go out of the house.

“The police and the dog warden have attended the incident and the owners have been awarded a CPN order, even though this is not the first time this person’s dog has attacked another dog with no provocation.”

A police spokesman said: “It was reported to us just after 2.50pm on August 5. One of our officers and the council’s dog warden has visited and issued advice and a community protection notice warning.”
