FIREWORKS caused such distress to this little dog that she twisted her back, leaving her unable to stand or walk and needing surgery that will cost up to £6,000.

Ersa the mini Jack Russell got into such a state from the sound of fireworks going off last weekend that she twisted her back running around the house in distress - which has caused compression of two vertebrae in her spine and nipped her spinal cord, rendering her back legs useless.

Owner, David Goddard, of Bleak Avenue, Shafton, is distraught because he doesn’t have the money to fix her.

He said: “Although she can’t move her legs she has still got feeling in them.

“She needs surgery by a specialist and it’s going to cost between £4,000 and £6,000. I’ve just not got the money.

“If I had a penny for every tear I’ve shed I would have enough to pay for it.”
