FIVE fines were dished out to people caught allowing their dogs to foul on graves and pathways at a Barnsley cemetery.

A targeted operation was carried out at Barnsley Cemetery by Kingdom Security. The firm is paid by the Central Area Council to send out officers to tackle littering and dog fouling in the Central, Kingstone, Stairfoot, Dodworth and Worsbrough wards.

The latest performance report given to area council members this month said a successful operation had taken place to crackdown on dog fouling at the site, on Cemetery Road.

A report seen by councillors said there had been numerous reports of dog fouling in the cemetery with owners said to be letting their dogs off leads allowing them to foul on the pathways and the graves and failing to pick it up.
