BOUNCERS employed at clubs and pubs across Barnsley could be given training to enable them to better cope with worse-for-wear revellers.

Although still in its early stages, the plan could also help staff be equipped to deal with drug abuse and mental health-related issues they may encounter when they are at work.

A council spokesman said: “We are currently speaking to door staff about any training needs they may have, and assessing if there’s training that currently exists within the council that they can access, or our teams can deliver to help them in their role.

“This is in the early stages, but we hope to be able to establish what current needs door staff have when they are working with and assisting the general public.”
