BERNESLAI Homes tenants had rent payments taken from their bank accounts twice because of a ‘system error’.

Allpay, the company that administers the council-housing manager’s direct debits, experienced a system error last Friday that resulted in a duplication of tenants’ direct debit payments due on that day, a Berneslai Homes’ spokeswoman told the Chronicle.

She added: “Unfortunately, the error had already occurred and we could not notify our tenants in advance. A message was sent out via our website and social media as soon as we were made aware.

“Allpay immediately started processing the refund and they are writing to each tenant personally to apologise for this isolated error.”

Allpay has confirmed it will reimburse those who experienced bank charges as a direct result of this error. Proof of the bank charges should be sent to the rents team at Berneslai Homes.
