Kenny Dougall could play a part in Barnsley’s Christmas schedule following his return to training.

The Australian midfielder has missed the last two months of the season since hurting his ankle at Shrewsbury Town.

Coach Andreas Winkler said: “Kenny has been back in training all week. Blackpool might be too soon for him but he might be able to play in some of the Christmas and New Year games.”

Winger Ryan Hedges is also on his way back from injury. Winkler said: “He is training individually with our physios but next week he will back with the squad.”

Left-back Zeki Fryers did not play on Saturday. He has lost three kilograms through illness but is back in training. George Moncur has also been ill but has returned to training. Goalkeeper Jack Walton is still out with a long-term injury.
