A POWER cut left dozens of homes in the dark this week, with some left cut off for more than 24 hours.

Generators had to be brought in to restore power to homes on White Hill Avenue, Pogmoor after they were cut off at about 10.30pm on Tuesday.

A Northern Powergrid spokeswoman said: “The fault initially affected around 39 properties on White Hill Avenue. We were able to restore the majority of customers by replacing a fuse at our substation and connecting a generator.

“A second fault on the network however meant that we were unable to restore power to four customers. Further repair works allowed a second generator to be connected restoring power to those customers at 11.38pm on Wednesday.

“Our customer care vehicle attended site providing hot drinks, information and advice to local residents while our repair teams worked to get the lights back on.”
