THE Dragon's Den may have eaten him up and spat him out but Mat Cottam still has every faith in his invention for clean freaks.

The Loodini helps people avoid having to touch toilet door handles, taps and flushes as well as cash machine buttons and virtually any unclean surface - and it's made in Barnsley.

Mat had sold only 153 of the £3.50 gadgets by Sunday night when he was featured on Dragon's Den on BBC2. But two days later he had sold nearly 1,000 of them online and sales continue to rocket.

It will be made in Barnsley by Moorland Plastics, a firm run by Barnsley Council which employs a number of disabled people and people with learning difficulties.

Moorland Plastics is due to close next year because the council can no longer afford to subsidise it, unless there is a development which allows it to stand on its own feet commercially - if the Loodini was to take off dramatically, it might help.
