Tiegan Hawkins was sent a letter by Barnsley Council’s engineering services department saying she has to stump up hundreds of pounds to cover the clean-up costs of the accident, which happened in July at the junction of Barugh Green Road and Cawthorne Road, Barugh Green.

The 18-year-old, of Hoyland, said the other driver involved has accepted responsibility which is why she can’t understand why she has been left to pick up the bill for the council clearing up glass and debris to make the road safe.
