BARNSLEY MP Michael Dugher has called for the government to drop its ‘outrageous’ ruling that a Barnsley man should return to work despite having half his skull missing.

The MP for Barnsley East has called for the head of the Department for Work and Pensions to reverse a decision declaring Kenny Bailey, 50, of Cobcar Lane, Elsecar, fit for work and removing his benefits.

Kenny was left with paralysis on his left side, a severe limp and memory and concentration problems after suffering a massive stroke in June 2014. He had the stroke in Greggs at Stairfoot - but is was 64 minutes before an ambulance arrived and 90 minutes before he arrived at hospital.

He is currently awaiting an operation to insert a metal plate into his head to reshape his skull and protect his brain following emergency surgery to reduce swelling on his brain amid fears he would not survive.
