ONE of Britain’s most well-known comedy duos have taken part in a Barnsley theatre’s 20th birthday celebrations.

Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball, collectively known as Cannon and Ball, were delighted to headline the Lamproom Theatre’s birthday bash branding it a ‘wonderful, friendly and intimate theatre space’ and one of the best they’ve ever played. During the celebrations, founder of the theatre, John Kelly spent time with the two stars and told them about the history and future plans for the space.

“Tommy and Bobby were fascinated by the idea that hundreds of volunteers could create and sustain such a wonderful community venture,” John told the Chronicle.

“They asked me to pass on their congratulations and best wishes to everyone involved in the project and to the theatregoers of Barnsley.

“We are already planning the theatre’s 21st anniversary celebrations and full details will be announced nearer the time.”
