An art-loving pub landlord has had two of his exhibits stolen - days before he makes his debut on national television.

Eccentric Anthony Youel, owner of The Monkey in Thurgoland, woke to find artworks, created using an ironing board and a vacuum cleaner, taken from his car park on Baggerwood Road.

The 52-year-old, who stars in new BBC3 reality programme Boom Town from 10pm on Wednesday, has turned the pub into a gallery and has displays inside and outside.

"My first reaction was disappointment," he said. "I don't get angry.

"The people who have done this need to embrace culture - it's a wonderful thing."

He added: "If they want to bring them back, we can move on and forget about it."
