ELDERLY bus users in Shafton say they are being 'fobbed off' by transport bosses about the village's unreliable services.

Residents have resorted to using taxis to make their way into Cudworth and Barnsley due to persistent trouble with services.

The two services, run by Tates Travel, are meant to stop off in Shafton twice every hour.

David Young, interim director general at SYPTE, said: "We continue to assist Tates Travel to put positive changes in place across their whole network. Under our conditions of contract, and with backing from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, we insisted Tates Travel develop an action plan which is now in place. We hope this will improve the quality of service they currently provide in Shafton."
