AN ENFORCEMENT officer is being set to target anti-social behaviour in Wombwell and Darfield.

A new full-time role is being created to deal with problems such as fly-tipping, car parking, litter, dog fouling and noise pollution - and hand out on the spot fines to offenders.

Joan Whitaker, from Wombwell's Crime and Safety Group, said: "Litter brings the area down and obviously dog fouling is brought up at every meeting borough-wide. If someone is there and around then the offenders won't do it."

Salaries will be paid for out of funds from ward budgets.
