INCREASING numbers of people are facing fines for dog fouling offences in the Hoyland area following a crackdown by enforcement officers in the district.

The work of officers employed specifically to work in the district is seen as increasingly successful, with numbers of those fined for allowing their dogs to foul public areas without clearing up afterwards increasing.

That has been put down to the staff - who are employed by a firm called Kingdom Securities and paid with funds from the South Area Council which has Barnsley Council cash to spend in the district - putting an added focus on that issue.

Over a two month period earlier this year they handed out 21 penalties for dog fouling offences with another 128 for littering.
