ENFORCEMENT officers who prowl the district’s streets to clamp down on dog fouling, littering and inconsiderate car parkers have issued 156 fines in the last year, latest figures show.

A report compiled by Kingdom, the firm employed by the North East Area Council to tackle the issues, revealed that revenue generated by its two officers reached £16,483 between April and December of last year.

The money was brought in by way of 156 fixed-penalty notices - charges against pet owners who failed to pick up after their dog and those caught dropping litter - and 40 motorists who parked their vehicles illegally.
