THE MAYOR’S Parade will feature a special treat this year.

A free circus performance will include dance, parkour and climbing. Dynamic group Kapow Dance will start the show with their outdoor production called The Boulderers on July 14. This will see them climb walls and inspire anyone who watches.

The Boulderers is a story of rock climbers pushing their limits and forming friendships as they climb the town. The performance will last 30 minutes and each location along the route will tell a new part of the tale.

The circus performance is co-commissioned by Greentop Circus Sheffield and The Civic in Barnsley with support from Arts Council of England and Moon Climbing.

This year marks 250 years since the first circus, when businessman Philip Astley drew a circle on the floor and filled it with acts. To continue celebrations, The Civic will show four more unique circus performances throughout the rest of the year.
