AWARD-winning Barnsley author Milly Johnson was introduced to her oldest fan at a book signing at the Barnsley Chronicle Bookshop.
Sprightly 102-year-old Margaret Critchley can’t read the books anymore so she listens to the audio versions instead.
“She loved going on cruises and seemed particularly fond of Here Come the Girls which ‘put her back on the Canberra’,” said Milly.
“I could have sat and listened to her for hours.
“She is full of stories and I feel quite blessed for having met her.
“She refused to stay sitting for her photo - I just hope I’m so full of beans and sharp when I’m at 102.
“I felt honoured and so privileged to have crossed her path and I shall be seeing her again for sure.”
Margaret’s friend Kay Fussey wrote to Milly explaining how she wanted to meet her, so Kay arranged it as a birthday surprise - and it would have been if Margaret hadn’t have figured it out.
