EVEREST hero Les Binns is planning to climb the world’s highest mountain again next year after abandoning his attempt last month to save the life of a stranger.

The Chronicle revealed last week how former soldier Les had spent more than £30,000 on his expedition to reach the 8,840m summit of Everest.

He had been less than 500m from the top when he encountered Indian climber Sunita Hazra in desperate trouble after her party’s oxygen supply bottles had been stolen.

He received a hero’s welcome when he arrived home from Nepal this week and was reunited with his fiancee Lindsey Epringham and two-year-old daughter Emma.

“It’s so good to be back with my two girls. I’ve missed them both so much,” said Les, originally from Bolton-on-Dearne but now living at Manvers.

“I just cannot believe the response I’ve had, it’s been incredible.”
