EXPERIENCE Barnsley has delayed the opening of the museum until next weekend to carry out maintenance work.

Initially, the Barnsley museum was due to open its doors this Saturday (September 5) but has since announced it will open on September 12 from 10am.

The town hall museum, which tells the stories of the borough’s history, will be open again with some new items on display.

The museum will introduce a number of new safety measures including one-way systems, reduced numbers, fewer interactives and as per government guidelines are asking people to wear face coverings.

Visitors to the Archives and Discovery Centre will have to wait a little longer as it will be reopening on September 14.

The gallery and gift shop will be open on Saturday at 10am and Monday until Friday from 9am until 4pm.
