EATING the world’s smelliest fish in an abandoned asylum isn’t most people’s idea of a good time.

But for Darfield’s Matt Nadin, who contributes to YouTube channel Finders Beepers History Seekers, it is just another day on the job.

It sees 38-year-old Matt, from Coronation Street, join friends Andy Thompson, Roy Taylor and Tony Cheetham as they take on the task of ‘urban exploration’, exploring interesting and often abandoned buildings.

They also dabble in metal detecting and in Matt’s case, food challenges, all in the name of entertainment.

One of their most popular videos, with more than 3.8k views, sees Matt eat surstromming in North Wales’ Denbigh Asylum.

Matt, who also has a full time job, said: “I’ve eaten the world’s smelliest fish. I’ve also taken on eating the world’s hottest chillis. It might seem a little bit odd but it is just something a bit different and my mates have always challenged me to eat stuff.

“The fish was vile, one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted. It was very salty but the smell was worse.”

Their search for interesting locations to explore has taken them to Sheffield’s Parkhill Flats and High Royds Hospital in West Yorkshire.

“There are some amazing places out there to be seen. It is not about going in and taking stuff. All you take are photos and all you leave behind are footprints,” said Matt.

He is following in the footsteps of his daughters, Katie and Amy, who have their own successful YouTube channel Katie and Amy’s Big Adventures.

But they only get to see edited versions of the Finders Beepers videos as they do contain some swearing.

“They love it, the bits I let them watch. I think they like the fact I’ve been inspired by them.”
