LATER bus services have been added to the timetable following Stagecoach’s recent £1.9m investment in new vehicles.

In October Stagecoach invested in a fleet of eight new gold buses with upgraded interiors, free Wi-Fi and USB charging points which serve routes connecting Matlock, Chesterfield, Sheffield, Meadowhall and Barnsley.

Following customer feedback, Stagecoach is now running later evening and weekend routes in partnership with South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE).

An extra journey from Meadowhall to Barnsley runs at 9.15pm Monday to Friday and on Saturdays, an additional route runs from Barnsley to Meadowhall at 7.35pm and returns at 8.15pm.

The last departure on Sundays has been amended to leave Meadowhall at 5.12pm towards Barnsley.

SYPTE director of public transport Ben Gilligan said: “We are pleased to support extra journeys on this important cross-country service.

“Providing the connections people need to access employment or education, shopping and leisure activities on public transport is key to keeping our region moving and for economic growth.

“We hope the new travel choices the evening and weekend service brings will benefit both current and new customers.”
