A 4X4 was torched by burglars in a failed ram raid in Goldthorpe.
Emergency services were called to the Aldi supermarket on Barnsley Road on Sunday, after a gang of robbers tried to dislodge the cash machine.
The men, who had all covered their faces, approached the store at 11.05pm and started trying to remove the metal barriers in front of the building before driving a silver-blue Nissan X-Trail into the building.
After several failed attempts, they deliberately set fire to the vehicle and ran from the area empty-handed.
Enquiries are now ongoing to identify those involved and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 1166 of November 19.
