An Athersley family is celebrating five generations with two new arrivals to the brood.

Baby cousins, Bailey Lucas and Annabell Kelly, are the latest additions to the Ward family, and Bailey is the son of Chantelle Ward, 19, of Wombwell, and Annabell is the daughter of her sister Natasha Ward, 18, of Cundy Cross.

The new mums are daughters of Vicky Ward, 39, of Athersley South, who is the daughter of Moya Carter, 59, also of Athersley South.

At the top of the family tree is Molly Cooper, who turns 91 on Sunday. She will mark the occasion with all five generations of her family around her.

Vicky said Molly, of Chatsworth Road, has 'books and books' of clippings taken from the Barnsley Chronicle about people she knows, and with her reaching 91 this weekend, it would be nice for Molly to cut herself out of the paper for a change.

"She's quite active and likes to be in her own house," said Vicky of Molly.

"She used to work at Redfearn's glass works (now Ardagh) and her job took her to Bangkok where she lived for a while, and that's where my mum, Moya, was born.

"Nan is happy to have the young ones in the family because she always said her biggest regret would be to not see my children's children. So it's a bit of a dream come true for her to have five generations.

"You wouldn't believe she's 91, she looks a lot younger and still does a lot of things for herself."
