A FAMILY whose new home was burned down following a robbery say they have been overwhelmed by continued community support.

Shaun Moreby, wife Debbie and their two children were all set to move into the self-built £300,000 house on High Street, Thurnscoe, until a robbery and arson attack was carried out in July.

Shaun, 47, quickly received support from local people and building contractors have chipped in to ensure the family can move in before Christmas.

Shaun, a former soldier, said: "We hope to be moved in by November and that is down to all the support we received.

"Thirty tonnes of rubble had to be cleared out after the fire and it was gutting."

Building materials have been sold to Shaun at cost price and volunteers have helped with the work.
