THE only thing growing in Graham Tate's allotment at the moment is the fear that he could be buried alive when he uses it.

Graham 43, and his stepson Alex Hopkinson, 18, waited two years to get an allotment, but they fear they could be seriously hurt or even killed by it.

The plot in Scarr Lane, Ardsley, is skirted by a road which is four feet above the allotment.

It is accessed from the road down a set of metal steps placed by the retaining wail. But the wall is in such a state of disrepair the land has slipped, pushing the steps into a wooden shed where Graham and Alex keep their tools.
