THE DRAMATIC first trailer for a new boxing film partly filmed in Barnsley has debuted this week.

Journeyman, written, directed and starring Paddy Considine, took over the Metrodome early last year to shoot fight scenes for the movie.

It sees the actor take on the part of Matty Burton, a middleweight boxer who decides to take on one last fight before retirement.

But a devastating blow in the ring has long-lasting effects.

The boxer ends up fighting for his recovery alongside wife Emma, played by soon-to-be Dr Who actress Jodie Whittaker.

The Metrodome hosted 350 extras and a boxing ring for the production.

At the time producer Diarmid Scrimshaw, said both the venue and the people of Barnsley were great to work with and called them a ‘really friendly, professional and supportive’ bunch.

It also shot in Doncaster’s Frenchgate Shopping Centre and Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane ground.

Considine has previously made appearances in films like 24 Hour Party People, cult favourite Dead Man’s Shoes, Hot Fuzz and even hit action franchise The Bourne Ultimatum.

The trailer can be seen here on Youtube. Journeyman is set to be released on February 16.
