THERE were a number of car fires started deliberately across Barnsley over the past week.

Firefighters were called to Hound Hill Lane in Worsbrough at 10.55pm on Monday where a Citroen car had been set on fire.

A crew from Barnsley left at 11.25pm and the fire was logged as deliberate.

On Saturday, a crew were called to Greenfield Road at Hoyland at 3.30am where a Corsa was torched. A crew from Tankersley left at 3.50am. And at 12.55am on Sunday, firefighters from Dearne tackled a vehicle fire on Barnsley Road at Wombwell. The make and model of the vehicle was unknown.

A Ford Focus was set alight on Lee Lane at Royston at 10.25pm on Friday. Firefighters from Cudworth spent 45 minutes tackling the blaze.
