WHEN fire gutted the town centre offices of an accountancy firm, staff knew they wanted to give something back to the firefighters who tackled the blaze.

On Tuesday watch manager Darren Middleton and the rest of Barnsley Blue Watch went along to GBAC at town end to collect a cheque for £750 for the Firefighters Charity.

It follows a a fundraising event hosted two weeks ago at the firm’s offices, a 17th century building which was badly damaged in the blaze, which had been attended by staff, clients and firefighters.

GBAC’s Georgia Gibbins said: “It went really well and we’ve managed to raise £750. We’re all so grateful to them for what they do so it’s nice to be able to give something back and to meet them all.”

The crew was given a tour of the building which is now fully restored.
