THIS is the first image of what the proposed £100,000 ten-feet high bronze statue of Tommy Taylor will look like.

Sculptor Graham Ibbeson says the three conjoined life-sized figures are designed to give the impression of movement and to show Tommy heading the ball - as he was a renowned header.

"I wanted to do something different than the usual footballer sculpture," said Graham. "Too often they are simply either men just stood or perhaps in ball kicking pose."

Former Barnsley player Tommy was one of eight Manchester United footballers, so-called Busby Babes, who were killed in the Munich air crash 57 years ago.
