KOI carp to the value of £1,000 were stolen from a pond in Worsbrough Bridge.

Police have appealed to the public for information this week after thieves entered a garden on John Street while its elderly occupant, a woman in her 70s, was out on July 1.

The suspects then stole a quantity of koi carp from a pond in the garden and left the area. At this time, officers do not have a description of those involved and are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to please come forward.

PC Nigel Finlay, investigating, said: “The fish are of huge sentimental value to the woman. They were owned by her late husband, who passed away only recently and had been given to him for Father’s Day, and some more to his wife after he passed away.

“Understandably this has caused considerable distress to the victim, who is still grieving for her husband. As our enquiries continue, I’d like to please ask anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between the times mentioned to get in touch with us.”
