ELSECAR’S annual food festival is to play host to another famous name this year.

Jean-Christophe Novelli, who has appeared on numerous

television shows and is also an Michelin star-winning chef, will be making an appearance at the two-day Flavours Food Festival starting on Saturday October 20.

On the first day, he will be doing a meet and greet with fans as well as holding two 45-minute cooking demonstrations, cooking recipes that those attending can then make at home.

He said: “I’m so excited to be coming to the fabulous Flavours Food Festival, set in the wonderful historic village of Elsecar this autumn.”

Joining him at the festival will be finalists of BBC2’s The Great Family Cooking Showdown, The Pigott Brothers.

Brothers Matthew, Samuel and Edward were noticed on the TV programme for their bold flavours and interesting dishes such as baked beans with bubble and squeak hash browns.

Also at the festival will be the newest voice in Indian food and wellness, Mira Manek.

Mira champions healthier ways of being vegetarian and vegan and puts her own Indian twist on dishes.

Both The Pigott Brothers and Mira will each hold four 45 minute cooking demonstrations throughout the course of the two day festival.

Coun Roy Miller, cabinet spokesman, said: “We are delighted to welcome a Michelin star chef of Jean-Christophe Novelli’s calibre to Barnsley and look forward to seeing what exciting dishes he will be serving up on the day.”
