A FOOTBALL club is hoping that a four-week fundraising frenzy will bag them a grant.

Worsbrough Bridge FC are taking part in the South Yorkshire Charity Sports Challenge, an initiative run by Hallam FM’s Cash for Kids.

The club has been shortlisted and has from October 12 to November 12 to raise as much money as possible, with the promise that each group gets their fundraising efforts matched to the value of £2,500.

Aron Harvey, development manager at Worsbrough Bridge said: “I’d just like to thank Hallam FM cash for kids for giving us this opportunity. Here at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic FC we are running one major event and a few small fundraising events within our team within the club. We would like our community to help and support us with this challenge.”

Worsbrough Bridge decided to host a bonfire as part of fundraising efforts as well as other events such as sponsoring a team member to wear a rival football shirt, and a sponsored bike ride.
