A PROJECT to help keep men over the age of 35 fit and healthy will close in September unless managers can raise the money to keep it on.

The Fit Reds has been delivered in partnership with Barnsley FC Community Sports and Education Trust for the last three years.

Lee Thompson, project co-ordinator, said: "We have no secure funding in place unless we raise the money ourselves through fundraising or grants. It is a real shame there will be no health provision for men who won't go to the GP or even speak about health."

The group currently has a budget of £35,000 to deliver programmes in and around the Barnsley borough. But he said based on the estimate of 600 men completing the programme, the cost could reach £120,000.
