Former councillor says Grimethorpe is Barnsley’s forgotten village

GRIMETHORPE is becoming Barnsley’s forgotten village, according to a former councillor.
Danny Gillespie has claimed the village isn’t getting its fair share of patrols from enforcement officers, which has left certain areas overrun with antisocial behaviour issues and littering.
“Grimethorpe is one village but it’s split into two and I think enforcement officers are only targeting certain places,” he said. “Every street should be walked by the enforcement officers - it’s getting like Beirut.”
