Stalwart Stephen Foster says his last-minute strike that earned the Reds an unlikely point at league leaders Cardiff on Tuesday night was as important as his header in the famous FA Cup victory at Liverpool in 2008.

Foster stuck out his boot in the seventh-minute of injury time and diverted Tomasz Cywka's strike into the net. He celebrated by punching the corner flag in front of the home supporters.

The centre-half said: "To be honest I'd gone up for a free-kick and just didn't manage to get back because I was too tired as we'd been playing for so long. Bobby (Hassell) had been having a few runs forward and he found Tomasz and I just stuck out my leg and it went in.

"I was over the moon because all of the lads have been working so hard to keep Barnsley in the Championship."

Foster, 32, compared the emotion to his header at Anfield.

"They will both stay in my mind for a long time. Obviously to score at Anfield with all my friends and family there was incredible but this point at Cardiff could be a vital one and it'll certainly go down as a crucial goal."
